“The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul.”

Mary Nassif

Mary passionately dedicated herself to artistic, cultural, and community enrichment throughout her life, actively supporting theatre as a board member of both The Footlighters and the Children’s Theatre of Cedar Rapids, where she introduced creative dramatics to children and fostered their roles as community performers. She made significant contributions to the Cedar Rapids Radio Council by producing, scripting, and directing plays, and created the innovative radio program "Girl of the Moment" for WMT. Her enthusiasm for dance was evident through her promotion of ballet and international dance with the Dieman-Bennet Dance Theatre.

Known affectionately as "The Story Lady," Mary inspired countless children through storytelling sessions at local libraries, cultivating a lifelong love for books and reading. She valued her many memberships, notably the Wednesday Shakespeare Club, where cherished friendships were formed. Mary will long be remembered for the lives she touched and the profound influence she had on others throughout her vibrant and cherished life.
